"Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweepin' down the plains." Ask anyone to tell you something about Oklahoma, and they will likely start singing Rogers and Hammerstein. But, in all seriousness, Oklahoma (1943) didn't get it wrong; the state does have a lot of wind and wide plains. There's a reason "Oklahoma" is the state song of Oklahoma.
Oklahoma's plains are not devoid of animals. In fact, in addition to the iconic bison, you will find a number of other species. These include deer, elk, antelope, coyotes, and wolves. You will also find a number of insect pests like the yellow jacket, black widow spider, brown recluse spider, fire ants, mosquitoes, and scorpions. If you're ever in Oklahoma, don't forget to take a visit to Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and the Ouachita National Forest. Just steer clear of any animals that would like to make you dinner or insects that would like to suck your blood.
